While this edition of BPL creates a huge frenzy after the inclusion of AB De Villiers, Steven Smith and David Warner alongside other big names of T20 cricket, Comilla Victorians batsman Imrul Kayes insisted that the local players’ performance shouldn’t be ignored .
Ironically the overseas players’ performance always put a shed on local players’ performance, something what Kayes tries to point out. And it was not illogical. In the last BPL, some of the local cricketers were in top five in terms of batting and bowling performance but they almost remained unnoticed.

Comilla Victorians’ Tamim Iqbal with 332 runs in 10 matches and Rangpur Riders’ Mohammad Mithun with 329 runs in 15 matches were in fourth and fifth position in batting in last BPL .
Dhaka Dynamites captain Shakib Al Hasan was the leading wicket-taker with 22 wickets in 13 matches while Khulna Titans pace bowler Abu Jayed Rahi took 18 wickets in 12 matches and Comilla Victorians Mohammad Saifuddin snapped up 16 wickets in 13 matches to acquire second and fourth position in bowling.
Yet Chris Gayle’s marauding 146 not out in final of the last BPL overshadowed all performance of the local players.
“BPL is good for us in terms of getting some talented cricketers. In every BPL we got our players to acquire top 5 place in batting and bowling, which is good for our cricket. I hope our players will keep replicating the performance,” Kayes said yesterday.
“I think their performance should be noticed. There big stars in the BPL and we became benefited by sharing dressing room and experience with them. But I think our players performance should be highlighted.”
