Rangpur Riders’ journey to win the title in the last year was not smooth one. They had early hiccup before they got the rhythm. Moody reminded his players about that hiccup and emphasized on starting the title defending mission on a good note.

"We had our challenges last year. We had a successful win but it wasn’t smooth sailing. Halfway through the tournament we found ourselves in the bottom half of the table. I think you need to remain calm in those situations and it may well happen again. We have to find a rhythm to our game," Moody said on Thursday.

“We are fully aware it is a strong competition. All the teams are very well balanced. What happened last year was great for us as a new franchise. We know that we have a lot of hard work ahead of us. Suddenly, finding ourselves winning a game is not easy. It is a long road," he remarked.

Moody who also helped IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad to win the title in 2016 congratulated his captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza to be elected as MP but believed that Mashrafe would turn his focus to cricket as the tournament kicks off.

“Most importantly he is a member of cricket as well. Obviously, he has had an exciting chapter of his life in the last few weeks. We all congratulate him on his achievements. I know Mash will be keen to get down to cricket business once we kick off on Saturday," Moody reckoned.

Moody however played down the pressure of being defending champions, saying they are confident enough to retain it.

“We have a trophy in the bank but it counts for nothing this year. We know we have a lot of hard work ahead of us. We have a trophy that a lot of teams haven’t got. But that’s where it ends. It is something to look back on but it is important that we collectively, management and as a team, look forward and make sure this campaign is a successful one."
