Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy refused to give up the hopes of playing the 2019 World Cup, stating that he would do every possible thing to make him available for the showcase tournament to be held in England in this May-July.
Even though his ambition got a huge setback following his dismal performance in West Indies in which he made a comeback but could do nothing worthy in three ODIs, Bijoy remained optimistic.
He said that after the axe from the team every match he played in domestic cricket, he played it thinking about World Cup only. And in this aspect, the BPL will also be important for him to take the preparation of the World Cup, he stated.

“I made a comeback with the series against West Indies but I couldn’t do well,” Bijoy said on Tuesday during his side Comilla Victorians’ practice session for the sixth edition of BPL at the Academy Ground of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“I was dropped from the team but since then every match is a preparation for me for the World Cup, be it NCL, BCL and so the every match of the BPL or if I play any one-day match after the BPL will be like a preparation match for me for the World Cup. I will make myself ready always. That’s why every match is important for me,” he added.
“I definitely want to play the World Cup. It’s my dream. During 2015 World Cup I got injured and forced to be back. Since then my dream is to play the 2019 World Cup. In my breath, in my every endeavor, in my net session, gym session, I think to play the 2019 World Cup. To materialize the hope, I will do every possible thing.”
Since his drop from the national team, his performance is not noteworthy which could force selectors to rethink about him but Bijoy said he wouldn’t be frustrated at it and would try to comeback strongly.
“Since I performed well in domestic cricket, I could play in the national team from 2012-2015,” Bijoy said.
“Domestic performance matters. Habit of scoring runs in any format of cricket helps everyone. After the axe from the team this time, I can’t do well in domestic cricket but I am confident to make room in the national team again by doing well in domestic cricket. I am specially disappointed because I can’t make my opportunity count in national team this time. However I will try to make it again.”
