National discard left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak said on Friday that he believe that he has still some cricket left in him and his performance in the just concluded Bangladesh Cricket League, country’s lone franchise based first-class tournament, only validate his judgement regarding his immediate future.

Razzak, who lead Prime Bank South Zone in the tournament guided them to another title as they defeated BCB North Zone by nine-wicket on the final day of the final round match in Chattogram on Thursday.

Razzak, who took 34 wicket to became the highest wicket taker in the competition, came up with a captain’s performance by taking 5-75 to play a major role in dismissing North for 280 in their second innings that eased their way to clinch the trophy.

While most of his team mates decided to shift gear as far as their playing career is concerned, the veteran left-arm spinner looked determined not to make any immediate future plan as he is pleased with the way he is able to perform in the just concluded BCL.

When asked how he still keeps his motivation intact as there is no sign of him in the national team’s plan of action, Razzak claimed instead of thinking about returning to Tigers dressing room someday he decided to leave that out from his head to avoid any extra pressure.

‘’To be honest I am not thinking anything about national team because I am a firm believer of destiny and if there is anything written on my fate it will surely happen someday,’’ Razzak told Cricfrenzy on Friday.

‘’Rather my only motivation behind playing these days is to judge my own position in my own eyes,’’ he said.

‘’These performances allow me to understand where I stand so that I can take my next course of action accordingly. I am glad that I did well as it provides me the confidence booster to work hard for the upcoming season,’’ he added.

If these performances in BCL can be taken as a confidence booster for the veteran left-arm spinner than surely he can take loads of it[ confidence] before completing the just concluded BCL as he was quite surprised with the lively wicket prepared for the tournament.

The success of spinners in the domestic longer version tournament fail to get the required attention as in the past it was often found that the wicket seems to be a paradise for the slow bowlers with low and slow bounce.

‘’To be honest it was quite surprising as there were some grass in the wicket,’’ said Razzak.

‘’I won’t say that wicket were top quality but at least there was something for the pace bowlers due to the little amount of grass that available in the playing surface and surely it was not prepared to see low and slow bounce from the opening day ,’’ he said adding that this only motivated him to do better even more.

‘’It only inspired me to do well even more as excelling against all odds gives me the real satisfaction as a cricketer,’’ he added.

Razzak said that he believe if this trend[ wicket] continues on regular basis than surely it will help Tigers in the long run as that will allow them to learn how to play in grassy wicket.

‘’We often struggle abroad as we fail to apply to our full potential in grass laden wicket. Though it is too early to say whether we will have similar or grassier wicket in the coming days but this change in approach is surely praise-worthy,’’ he concluded.
