After becoming the youngest Test player to claim five-wicket on debut match, off-spinner Nayeem Hasan continued his rich vain of form and single-handedly led Islami East Zone complete a crushing 321-run win over Central Zone inside three days in the sixth and last round of the BCL match on Wednesday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Nayeem snapped up 8-47, the best bowling figure by a Bangladeshi off-spinner in the first class cricket, wrapped up Central Zone for 134 runs after East Zone set a target of 456 runs, thanks to century from Mominul Haque (100) and Yasir Ali (101 not out).
Nayeem indeed broke his previous record (8-106 in the NCL) to set the new record. A total of four bowlers-- Sunjamul Islam (9-80), Saqlain Sajib (9-82), Abdur Razzak (9-84) and Mosharraf Hossain (9-105) earlier took nine wickets in an innings but all of them are left-arm spinners.

Mominul and Yasir combined for a 175 runs for the third wicket, after East Zone were left at 46-2. They batted in one-day style to quickly set a big target for Central Zone, who was searching the title after leading the point table until the sixth and the final round of the league.
Mominul hit nine fours and one six in his 106 ball-100 while Yasir smashed 10 fours and two sixes in his 109 ball-101 unbeaten.
East Zone declared on 254-3 after Mominul was dismissed.
Nayeem Hasan then took the charge and Central Zone crumbled to taste a big defeat that effectively ended their hope of clinching the title.
By virtue of the victory East Zone at the moment topped the point table but South Zone would overtake them to clinch the title should they win the match against North Zone on day four, which is highly likely given the match scenario.
East Zone earlier piled up 425 in its first innings before Taijul Islam’s 6-92 shot Central Zone out for 224.
