Cushion of extra runs ignite Tigers bowlers

With dew expecting to make the task tougher for the bowlers, Bangladesh T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan said, the cushion of extra 20/30 runs made the bowlers a courage to go all out attack on West Indies batsmen.
Shakib said he personally did think that they couldn’t score over 180 runs even if they play their best cricket but somehow they compiled 211 for four, which made all differences.
“Batsmen should get the credit. Personally I thought if we bat extremely well, we could score at best 180, but we scored 211. I think it gave us a huge confidence that we made 20/30 runs extra. With that cushion we still could come back in the match if we bowled too badly,” Shakib said on Thursday after his side’s series leveling 36-run win against West Indies.
“It was very difficult (to bowl) with that large amount of dew. Then Miraj (Mehidy Hasan) bowled really well. Dew not only made the task tougher for bowlers, pacers also had to struggle for this. But the batsmen gave us a good platform, so at least, we have that courage which was reflected in our bowling.”
Their familiarity with Mirpur wicket and crowd’s support was also equally important in grabbing an important victory that kept the ambition of a tour sweep alive, said Shakib.
“Earlier I said this condition is more favourable for us than them. We always play match here and we have played so many matches here including domestic and international game. So the ground is known to us. Sylhet is not that known to us as we haven’t played many matches there. Those who didn’t play so many domestic games, Sylhet was almost new to them. So Mirpur was very known to us. Mirpur crowd is so supportive, the crowd vibe creates different feel always. I think it is also positive thing before the next match.”
