Tigers' head coach learning Bangla

Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes said on Sunday that he is slowly learning to speak in Bangla in a bid to make his charges understand him better.
Rhodes joined Bangladesh in June following the unexpected departure of Chandika Hathurusingha. Since he joined as coach, there were doubts regarding whether he will be able to adapt with the condition and the players considering he is an Englishman and language always seemed to be a big barrier between the players and the coaches in Bangladesh.
“The language barrier is something that I am working on. I am trying to pick up little bits of Bangla language. It’s really good for my coaching it means that sometimes I have to demonstrate more Sometimes I have to use a flip chart or a whiteboard to show, my speaking has to be very slow which I am trying to do now, particularly for the players to understand clearly what I am saying. I’m all the time having to learn to do a different style of coaching,” Rhodes told reporters.
“But what’s great for me, I’m probably into nearly six months and I am finding that I am going to be a better coach for the experience, definitely. I know the boys do appreciate speaking slower, trying to make things clear. There is nothing worse than a coach that could come and complicate things for the players, and that is something I am trying to avoid,” he said.
