Mental edge helps Mehidy against Hetmeyer

Mehidy Hasan has so far taken 23 wickets in West Indies’ ongoing tour of Bangladesh and Shimron Hetmeyer made a generous contribution by giving his wicket to the off-spinner on six occasions in seven innings across two formats.
According to Mehidy, his focus gives him an edge in the duel.

“When he comes to bat, I think I get more serious. I want to keep the pressure on him and to not take him casually. I am more focused when he comes to bat, which probably helps me more than him,” he said.
Mehidy returned his ODI career-best figures of 4/29 in the series-deciding clash against West Indies. He dismissed Chandapaul Hemraj and Darren Bravo in an exhausting eight-over spell, before returning to bowl the two remaining overs where he picked up two more scalps, including that of Hetmeyer.
After Mohmmad Saifuddin removed Marlon Samuels, Mashafe Mortaza immediately brought Mehidy back into the attack, knowing Hetmeyer’s weakness against the spinner. The move paid off as the batsman was trapped lbw for a duck.
Mehidy then got a bonus wicket to end his bowling innings, by sending Rovman Powell back to the hut for one run.
“Mashrafe bhai and Mushfiqur bhai was discussing that if Miraz is used now, he will get us breakthroughs, and I took two wickets in the end,” said Mehidy.
