We are equipped to deal with pace bowlers: Mashrafe

Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza insisted that they are not losing their sleep thinking about the pace bowlers from the opposition camp, as they will lock horns with West Indies for the three-match series decider at Sylhet on November 14.
The announcement came hours after Windies skipper Rovman Powell threatened earlier that they would try to exploit the hosts’ weakness against pace bowling.

“We have played well against their pace bowlers in first two matches. It’s true that we lost one to two wickets early. If you see the last match, they could not put pressure on Mushfiq and Tamim with their pace bowling, so as Mahmudullah. The shakiness can be in the initial part of the innings, which is quite natural. Sakib also played easily and hit his shots. I don’t think they could have done anything. There was a time these things made effect but now-a-days it didn’t occur,” said Mashrafe.
“But if you tell about extreme pace, then all the batsmen around the world had problems with that. But our batsmen can handle 140, 142/143 km/h pace bowling very easily now and we have come out from that shakiness. If Tamim would not get out on that time the scenario could have been different. If Sakib could have batted two out of last three overs then he can easily score 20 more runs. If we can execute well then there is no problem. We don’t have any problem with pace. But extreme pace is difficult for all the batsmen so you can’t only blame us. I think how we are playing pace that is important,’’ he said.
Mashrafe said that Thomas Oshane is a threat but that is manageable and they suffered not because of his pace but due to losing wicket at crucial times adding they are more focused not to repeat a similar mistake.
“He bowled at the economy of six. Runs are not the issue. If he is their best bowler then we are happy with scoring six runs in an over. Main thing is he is taking one or two wickets in crucial times,” said Mashrafe
“It is important for us to reduce the figure. Despite his taking wickets we were still in the game Sakib, Riyad ere playing till the 41st over with three wickets only down. Then we had Soumya, Liton. Although we had two more batters, we scored 64 runs in last 10 overs which you can’t think of. This didn’t happen for pace. I think we could not properly execute the plans,” he said
