Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said on Thursday that they are yet to press the panic button in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies.

The Windies team came back strongly in the second game after losing the opener, before coming to Sylhet to play the series-decider third ODI. However, Mahsrafe is confident about their chances in the do-or-die affair.

Bangladesh haven’t yet registered any win at Sylhet despite playing a T20I against Sri Lanka in February this year while they lost the only Test they played in the ground against Zimbabwe in November.

“There is no point thinking about the past because tomorrow is a new day and a new match. It is not a fact that we are on the back foot as we are out from the series because the series is leveled on 1-1. It is not that everything is lost. We must play positively because Windies will try to play their best cricket so we must play our best cricket. There is no point thinking about what had happened in the venue earlier,” Mashrafe told reporters at the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Bangladesh have won 12 matches and lost seven games so far in this year and according to Mashrafe, it would be great if they can end the year on a high note.

“I think it would be great if we can end the year with a win. After the opening match I said that this year percentage of our success is good and if we can end the year with a win it will certainly be good. We had a chance to win a big tournament this year while we lost a tri-nation at the start of the year. Apart from that I think the ODI format went on well for us so it will be good if we are on the winning side in the end,” said Mashrafe.

“If we can win this match then we will be carrying a good amount of confidence ahead of our next series. It will also help while playing the T20I series during out tour of New Zealand following the T20Is [against West Indies]. Confidence is depend largely on whether you are from the winning or losing side.”
