Mehidy unsure over Mashrafe’s last hurrah at home

Bangladesh will be heading to Sylhet with a mission to clinch the three-match ODI series against West Indies as the series is tied after the visitors won the second game by four wickets.
But more than anything else whether it is skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s last game at home soil seemed to have taken the center stage, since speculation is high that the game could well see the end of the legend performing in his own backyard.
The speculation was raised during the second ODI at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium as it could be his last game at the home of cricket where he had scripted some heroics with the bat and the ball, but more than anything else, with his shrewd cricket brain as a leader.

Mashrafe joined politics recently and hinted at retirement after the ICC World Cup and there is no more ODI in the SBNS before the global tournament.
If all these things are taken into consideration then fans might just see his last ODI at home when Bangladesh take on West Indies at Sylhet though there is a chance that he might review his career after the World Cup. However, there are slim odds of any such reconsideration happening.
Mehidy, who came to SBNS to attend a program of UNICEF was not spared from the question whether the next game is going to be Mashrafe’s last swan song at home.
“Mashrafe bhai is serving the team for a long period. I am not sure whether it is his last match or not.
“We want Mashrafe bhai to play for a longer period of time. At least I want him to play for as long as possible,” said Mehidy.
“Mashrafe bhai always say that every series is important for us and we must remember that all the time,” he added.
