Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan said on Wednesday that they are aware of their butter fingers, which forced them to pay dearly against Windies in the second game of the ongoing three-match ODI series.

The fielding of Bangladesh came under severe scrutiny as they dropped three catches in the game, two of Keemo Paul, who went on to add 71 runs for the seventh wicket with Shai Hope. It was this stand that ensured West Indies crossed the line with two balls to spare after restricting the opponent for 255/7.

Paul, who was on six runs got a life in the 44th over when substitute fielder Nazmul Islam seemed to rush in to catch a mistimed slog sweep but couldn't hold on to it due to misjudging.

Paul received another life in the 48th over when Nazmul took a quite few steps early that looked he just overran after Paul hit a full-blooded pull and in the process and just had to remain satisfied by stopping the boundary, However, it seemed too costly for the host and it all began when Imrul Kayes dropped a sitter of Shimron Hetmyer at short fine leg.

“Missing catches is part of cricket. We took some brilliant catches as well. Sometimes we failed to grip the ball just due to misjudgment but that is part of the game and hopefully we will make a turnaround in this game,” said Mehidy.

Bangladesh fielding remains a major concern as they put up an ordinary show in the field, which can be termed nothing less than being sluggish.

In the opening game against Windies, Tamim Iqbal took one of the best catches of the year. On the other hand, Ariful Haque, Rubel Hossain, and Mushfiqur Rahim dropped catches and these efforts only raised questions over the reputation of the Tigers as a fielding unit.
