West Indies finally got something to cheer-up after three heavy defeats in two-match Test series and first ODI and West Indies opener Shai Hope believed they should celebrate a bit.
The Caribbean side came into the ODI series with an aim to win their first bilateral series since their victory against Bangladesh at home in 2014 but after the first one-day’s setback they seemed to head for nothing.
However Hope’s century produced one of the most fascinating victories for them—a much-needed victory which helped them level the series and gain confidence before heading for the series-deciding third and final game.

“It has been a long tour of Asia. It is nice to cross the line. The guys have been working really hard so very pleased to get this win. We should celebrate a bit more because we didn’t have much to celebrate in recent times,” Hope said after his side’s four-wicket victory over Bangladesh on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“Definitely, we have come here to win the games. We came here to fight and make sure we finish the series 2-1.”
For a change, West Indies came up with new plan, knowing that Bangladesh would stall their progress with spin in the first powerplay, revealed Hope.
“We had to adapt as fast as possible. We knew that they will throw spin at us in the first 10 overs of the game. We came with a different plan and it came off this time,” Hope disclosed.
“It was about pacing the innings. I knew that someone had to bat deep. I got the opportunity to start at the top of the order. I had all 50 overs. Just a bit disappointed for some of the guys in the middle to get out at that stage. The key was to bat as deep as possible and make sure that we win the game.”
