While the pace bowlers were ignored in the Test series as part of the strategy to run through West Indies with extreme spin, mentor of Bangladesh’s fast bowlers Courtney Walsh expected that they would get find a place in the three-match ODI series against the same team, slated to begin on November 9.
“We are hoping,” Walsh said with smile as he was asked about the possibility of the pace bowler’s inclusion in the ODI team.
But he was unable to comment on how many pacers will play as it would depend on the pitch.

“Mash(Mashrafe) and Rubel (Hossain) are back. Fizz (Mustafizur) is around. There are enough seamers in the squad but we don’t know who might play. It depends on the type of surface we playing on. You want to win games and series and I think the more matches Bangladesh win, it will be better for the youngsters coming up,” he said.
As he talked about young guys, Walsh seemed to be highly pleased by young pace bowler Khaled Ahmed who made debut against Zimbabwe.
Khaled in fact impressed all with his raw pace and superb line and length even though it was not enough to make him available to play any match after his maiden Test.
But it looked Walsh wants his ODI debut as well.
“I was very impressed with his bowling and attitude in that one Test. His attitude has been tremendous. Unfortunately he didn’t get a wicket but he bowled very well. All the guys encouraged him. I think, just him being around the dressing room, getting the winning feeling, being able to go out and practice, he will improve. I am very happy with the way he is going and once he continues to be consistent, he will be in the thick of things.”
Despite the ignorance to give them enough space to show their mettle, Walsh doesn’t thing that the pacers will suffer in overseas condition, even though Bangladeshi pacers couldn’t do anything noteworthy even in the pace-friendly pitch in West Indies.
“I don’t think so. I think hopefully that will get them hungry. Our job as coaches is to get them ready for overseas conditions. The more you play, it is better. In this day and age you don’t have the luxury so you have to be ready whenever you get the opportunity,” he concluded.
