Kevin Pietersen is not one to shy away from making comments and speaking his mind out. It has gotten him into trouble quite often, but there is no stopping this man.

And now, the former England star questioned the direction in which England cricket is advancing since they have focused everything towards white-ball cricket in order to win the World Cup next year.

While England’s new approach has made them the most complete ODI team in the world, their Test team has taken a hit as they only recently lost Ashes to Australia and also couldn’t beat Pakistan at home.

As a result, Pietersen believes that putting all the chips in the 50-overs version of the game at the expense of Test cricket is “frustrating” to watch as he believes that most people care more about the longest version of the game.

“I don’t know which direction they want to go in,” former England batsman Pietersen.

“We won a T20 World Cup, we won the Ashes home and away, we beat India in India a few years ago.”

“England haven’t won a 50-over World Cup, I know that was the message a few years ago to do that and you can see they are driving towards that World Cup in England next summer, at the detriment of Test cricket.

“And I think it’s sad and frustrating for us as players who have played over 100 Test matches,” Pietersen explained.

“The public care a lot more about Test match cricket than they do about the shorter form of the game.”

The former England captain played 104 Tests and scored 8000 runs for the Three Lions at an average of 47.28, while also smashing 28 centuries in the process.
