Kagiso Rabada owns South African award ceremony

Kagiso Rabada has been showered with accolades in yearly CSA awards, an event to acknowledge the work of South African players over the last year. The youngster has been sensational form and has picked up 72 Test wickets in 12 matches and with an average of 19.52 all the while.
Rabada was awarded with South Africa’s Player of the Year in a season where he not only bowled well but also had to be cautioned for being overly-aggressive on the field. He won a total of six awards including the ODI, Test, Fans' Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and RAM Delivery of the Year.
This is the second time that the South African has won the award, winning it for the first time in 2016. With this, he joins the echelons consisting of Jacques Kallis, Makhaya Ntini, AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla.
Earlier, the South African was awarded the Man of the Series in the much-maligned Australia tour of South Africa, which the host country won – conquering a series at home against the Aussies for the first time since 1992.

He was also slapped with a two-match ban for being found guilty of intentionally bumping into Steven Smith in the second Test, but the decision was overturned after a successful appeal.
It was, however, an incident that earned him a demerit point, which means that there is a danger of the Protea of missing games as he has already accumulated seven demerit points and will be banned for two Tests should he get another demerit point.
Dane van Niekerk was named the Women’s Cricketer of the Year as her team-mate Laura Wolvaardt was honoured with the Women’s Players’ Player of the Year and Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year.
