Shane Watson doesn’t agree with the sanctions on Smith-Warner

Former Australia T20I captain Shane Watson has spoken about the sanctions placed on the banned trio of Cameron Bancroft, David Warner and Steve Smith. The infamous trio were caught in the middle of a ball-tampering saga that not only got them banned but also cost Smith and Warner their leadership roles.
Meanwhile, Shane Watson believes that the punishments inflicted upon them are too harsh when compared to the sentences given upon players who had done similar things in the past.
“It is an extreme penalty for what they did compared to the bans that have happened and the reprimands that have happened in the past,” Watson said at a news conference in Dubai.
Watson believes that the trio will try to make up for their mistakes when they make a comeback to the game

“They’ve paid a heavy price, there is no question, and when they come back they will be doing everything they can to try and repay people for the mistakes they made.”
He then stated that newly-appointed coach Justin Langer is the right man for the job.
“He is certainly going to make sure the Aussies are on the right track,” said Watson, who recently scored a match-winning century in the IPL final against Sunrisers Hyderabad to help Chennai Super Kings win their third IPL trophy.
