AB de Villiers hangs up his boots

In what seems like a shocking and almost unfathomable news with the World Cup scheduled to take place in just under a year’s time, AB de Villiers has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket.
The South African only just concluded his duties in the Indian Premier League with Royal Challengers Bangalore, who failed to qualify for the playoffs after losing against Rajasthan Royals in their final league game, and has revealed his decision after returning to South Africa.
The Protea, also known as Mr 360 due to his ability to play shots all over the park, stated that he feels tired and wants the youngsters to take over from him.
"I have decided to retire from all international cricket with immediate effect," de Villiers said on Wednesday (May 23).

"After 114 Test matches, 228 ODI's and 78 T20 Internationals, it is time for others to take over. I have had my turn, and to be honest, I am tired," de Villiers said.
"This is a tough decision, I thought long and hard about it - and I would like to retire while still playing decent cricket. After the fantastic series wins against India and Australia, now feels like the right time to step aside.
"I will always be gratfeul to my teammates, the coaches and the staff of cricket South Africa for their support all these years."
The South African has 8765 runs from 114 Tests and at an average of 50.66. He has also made 9577 runs after playing in 218 ODI innings while boasting an average of an astonishing 53.5 and an even better strike-rate of 101.1.
With the World Cup set to take place in just under a year’s time, this announcement comes as a shocker not only for South Africa but also for the cricket fraternity in general.
