Newly-appointed Australia T20I vice-captain Alex Carey has stated that he is excited to work with new coach Justin Langer. He stated that the group will sit down and talk with Langer and try to grasp his ideology.

This is the first time that Langer will have his full team assembled in front of him and Carey hopes that they can start fresh when they go to the UK to play against England.

“We will get together as a group and sit down and I’m sure we’ll outline a few things,” wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey told reporters on Wednesday.

“Obviously go over what has happened the last couple of months and with the new squad we have got, start fresh and get stuck into the UK tour.

He also added that he has spoken to Just Langer and is eager to know more about him as Langer has had success with Western Australia.  

“I have had a brief chat with Justin Langer and am just really looking forward to getting to know him, on the more of a personal level, and learn about the way he wants us to go about our cricket.

“We have seen with Western Australia’s success and the people they are, they are obviously very respectful and hard-working on the field, and once you get off, they’re really good guys.”

With the ban on David Warner, the vice-captaincy post in T20I became vacant and Alex Carey was assigned with the task to be Aaron Finch’s deputy in the shortest international format of the game.
