Adam Gilchrist names his Test vice-captain for Australia

Former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist has named his vice-captain for the Test side of Australia. After the ban on Steve Smith and David Warner, Cricket Australia might have named Tim Paine as the captain of the Test side but refrained from appointing his deputy.
As a result, the role is up for grabs and ‘Gilly’ believes Mitchell Marsh would be a great choice for the position. He is confident that Marsh’s personality makes him ideal for the role as he has what it takes to be an important part of the team’s core.
"I think a guy like Mitch Marsh could be a really strong appointment as Paine's deputy. Again, provided he stays fit, I see him playing a big role in being a core or foundation player for that team to be built around," cricket.com.au quoted Gilchrist.

In terms of experience, Nathan Lyon is also someone whose name is being linked to the position but Gilchrist believes that despite showing his skills as a captain for West Australia last season in the Sheffield Shield, the combination of Paine and Marsh could work better.
"He showed some really promising signs for WA (as captain) in the last Sheffield Shield season. He could mature into a very good leader. Nathan Lyon is the more experienced but if I had to appoint someone, I would have Tim and Mitch as the combination," he said.
While the Test vice-captaincy post is still up for grabs, Tim Paine’s deputy in the ODI circuit has already been decided in the form of Aaron Finch as the duo will lead Australia against England in the upcoming ODI series.
