Chris Lynn is a scary opponent, says Langer

Newly-appointed head coach of Australia Justin Langer has lauded Chris Lynn as the player he is the most afraid of as an opposing coach. Langer, who took over the reins of the Australian cricket team after Darren Lehmann resigned from the post following the sandpaper saga, also added that he is the type of player anyone would love to have in their team.

"As an opposition coach, he's the player I'm most scared of," Langer told radio station SEN. "So when we play against Brisbane Heat, or we play against Queensland, I get very nervous.

"They're the ones you like to have in your team."

The only concern with Lynn is his fitness. The Australian is currently playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League but there is a feeling that he is not being able to exert himself to the fullest because of his shoulders.

While he may have been among the runs, he hasn’t been able to score them at the rate that he usually does – something that earned him the nickname ‘Lynnsanity’ – and Langer believes that he needs to get fully fit and also informed that he is set to see a surgeon after getting back from the Indian Premier League.

"Of course, he needs to get himself fit – I think he's seeing the surgeon when he gets back from the IPL. He made a pretty good fist of it overnight for KKR," Langer added.

Langer hasn’t yet coached him, which is why he claimed to not know him “at all.” He has, however, heard only good things about him and reaffirmed that he is a dangerous opponent.

"He's a dynamic player, and they tell me he's a good bloke – I don't know him at all. But he's a scary opponent."

Lynn hasn’t been considered for Australia’s upcoming ODI and T20I series in England and Zimbabwe as he is still not fully fit due to his shoulder, which has restricted his fielding and also his throwing.
