International Cricket Council have decided its independent chairman as Shashank Manohar is set to keep his place as the independent chairman of the governing body. He was elected after remaining unopposed.

In 2016, Manohar was named as the first independent ICC chairman and will now continue to be so for the next two years. In his time in the reign, Manohar has reversed the resolutions made in 2014 and introduced a revised governance structure for the benefit of the sport.

Speaking of his re-election, Manohar revealed his honour and said that he hopes for the growth of the game by working hard as the “guardians” of the sport.   

"It is an honour to be re-elected as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council and I would like to thank my fellow ICC Directors for their continued support. Together we have made big strides over the last two years, fulfilling promises I made to the sport when I was appointed in 2016.

"Over the next two years we can look forward to launching a global strategy for the sport in partnership with our Members so we can grow the game and ensure more of the world can enjoy cricket. The sport is in good health but we are the guardians of the game and we must continue to work hard to maintain that."

The election process allowed ICC directors to nominate one candidate that was either a past or a present ICC director. The nominees with two or more votes from the directors would have been qualified to run for election but since Manohar was the only one nominated, he was announced the winner of the uncontested election.
