Sri Lanka captain fails with appeal, banned for third Test

The captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team Dinesh Chandimal is set to be excluded from the day-night Test against West Indies in Barbados. Dinesh Chandimal, who has been charged for tampering with the ball, appealed against his ban but it was dismissed by ICC’s appointed judicial commissioner, Michael Beloff.
Furthermore, according to a statement from the ICC, Beloff will give a written reasoned decision on Wednesday.
Match referee for the second Test, Javagal Srinath, fined Chandimal 100% of his match fee while also awarding him two suspension points for his act. That decision has been retained.

Meanwhile, July 10 has been set as the date of hearing the code of conduct charges against the Sri Lanka captain, coach Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha – who were charged by ICC with a level 3 offence for refusing to take the field on the third morning of the second Test – for “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.”
As a result, both Hathurusingha and Gurusinha will be available to coach and manage the Sri Lankan team in their third Test of the series.
