Australia slump to just one place above Bangladesh in ODI rankings

We all remember Australia as the team that is the best in the world. The Borders, the Waughs and the Pontings, Australia have groomed three generation of elite winners that have won four of their last five World Cups.
They are currently the reigning world champions but have now stooped lowest they have in 34 years. According to the latest ODI rankings, Australia find themselves at number six – just one place ahead of Bangladesh.
Currently, the Baggie Green are trailing 2-0 against England in a five-match series played at the latter’s backyard. England, who are the number one side in ODIs, beat the Aussies 4-1 earlier this year following a 4-0 Ashes defeat to Australia.

Taking their place at number five is Pakistan, who are the reigning Champions Trophy winner, while England retain their top spot. Bangladesh, too, saw no changes as they still find themselves at number 7.
The fall of Australia has been cathartic, to say the least. Even with David Warner and Steve Smith in the side, they had struggled to get going in the limited overs and things just became harder for them with their absence.
With the World Cup up ahead, Australia’s title defence already looks incredibly shaky with their struggles in white-ball cricket of late.
