Sri Lanka cricket lobby five legends for consultant roles

The national selection committee has put up the names of Kumar Sangakkara, Aravinda de Silva, Mahela Jayawardene, Muralitharan and Roshan Mahanama as a suggestion to the government to appoint them as consultants for Sri Lanka Cricket.
Both Sangakkara and Jayawardene are always around the board at their time of need. However, the fact that the board is currently temporarily defunct and the government is actually running the cricket in the nation, the selectors see this as an opportunity to bring in the quartet as a means to build the foundations of the country’s cricket.
The likes of Roshan Mahanama and Aravinda de Silva previously have had a difficult relationship with SLC’s official. Meanwhile, the selectors want the government to appoint the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan as a spin-bowling consultant for the Lankans.
It is difficult to know whether this could actually happen as new officials, to be elected following an election sometime next month, might not welcome these legendary figures, some of whom – namely Mahela and Sanga – even submitted official reports to the sports ministry, requesting them to change the SLC constitution.

But nothing came out of it.
Current sports minister Faiszer Mustapha seemed content with the suggestions of the selectors and also revealed that a change in SLC constitution is something he wants. He, however, didn’t go into detail about how or when it could be done.
