Adam Voges replaces Justin Langer

As Justin Langer took over the reins of the head coach of Australia, he left his respective roles as the coach of Western Australia and Perth Scorchers. As a result, someone had to be appointed to fill up the vacancy and former Australia star Adam Voges is the man appointed to do so.
Voges, who scored five centuries and four half-centuries in 31 Test innings, has been named as the coach of Western Australia and Perth Scorchers. Western Australia Cricket Association CEO Christina Matthews, meanwhile, said that appointing Voges was a natural thing to do since he was a captain of the team and has the understanding of the players.
"It was the natural progression to appoint Adam after Justin left," WACA CEO Christina Matthews said. "As captain, Adam played a huge role in helping to develop the culture that has delivered us considerable success over the past few years," she added.
"Adam has an understanding of all the players and we know he works well with the current staff. Adam has a playing group that believe in his brand of leadership, players who have followed him for many years and look up to him as a trusted mentor and friend," she noted.

Voges, meanwhile, said that his main focus is to strengthen the red-ball cricket of Western Australia while also keeping the success of white-ball cricket intact.
“We've had some terrific success in white-ball cricket over the past few seasons and we've seen some great inclusions into the Australian team, but to keep our program strong we need to build depth in the next wave of WA cricketers. The focus for this year is very much improving our red ball cricket and making sure we're right up there in the Sheffield Shield."
Voges has big shoes to fill as Justin Langer was a highly successful coach for both the teams. In fact, Voges himself won two BBL titles under the tutelage of the former Australia opener.
