David Warner joins Caribbean Premier League

Former Australia vice-captain David Warner has been summoned by St Lucia Stars to replace D’Arcy Short as the latter has been called up for Australia A’s tour of India.
David Warner is currently serving a ban following his instigation of the ball-tampering saga that involved team-mate Cameron Bancroft rubbing sandpaper on the ball during Australia’s third Test against South Africa.
As a result, both the aforementioned duo and Steve Smith – who was the captain at the time – were banned from international and state cricket.
Meanwhile, the general manager of St Lucia Stars, Mohammad Khan, revealed his excitement at having the Australian left-handed opener as he dubbed him as one of the greatest players of white-ball cricket.

“We are excited to bring David to the Saint Lucia Stars. David is arguably one of the greatest batsmen of the modern era and a winning player.
“He is going to add a lot of value on the field and in the dressing room as we pursue our first Hero CPL Title.”
This news comes right after the confirmation of Warner playing in grade cricket along with limited-overs tournament Darwin in July.
The last time the devastating batsman played in the Caribbean was in 2016 when he smacked a tormenting 109 against South Africa.
