Sylhet Sixers head coach Waqar Younis said on Thursday that he is confident of doing well in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League due to the strength of their squad.

According to Waqar the arrival of leg spinner Sandip Lamichhane and Imran Tahir will certainly strengthen the bowling unit as it will add variety for them while he is confident of having David Warner at the top of their batting order.

 “I think we picked a pretty balanced team. We have all bases covered. We have a good bowling line-up with couple of really good overseas fast bowlers and legspinners. Sandeep Lamichhane and Imran Tahir are both world-class,’’ Waqar told reporters at a introduction ceremony at a city hotel on Thursday.

‘’Warner will lead the team from the front.I have worked with him in the past and we get on really well. Hopefully we will challenge other teams in this tournament and play really well,’’ he said

Waqar added that the growth of BPL is certainly gaining momentum with passing days and he is hoping that it not far away when BPL will turn out to be one of the best franchise based T20 tournament in the world.   

“It shows that the standard of cricket is improving. You see something new every year. New venues are coming through. Hopefully in the coming years you will have other centres coming through,’’ said Waqar.

The whole tournament will expand. I am sure the tournament will bring big names and the one sitting right next to me.[ David Warner] will help grow Bangladesh cricket,’’ he said.
