Dhaka Dynamites coach Khaled Mahmud tipped Shakib Al Hasan vital to their ambition in clinching the BPL title, which eluded them in the previous season after a Chris Gayle-storm.
Mahmud said Shakib has been in the peak of his form and has the ability to single-handedly thwart the opponent.
“The first target that we set is to break into the top-four-stage. Then we will get down fighting for the championship in BPL,” Khaled Mahmud said on Wednesday during Dhaka Dynamites practice session at the Academy ground in Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“Our captain Shakib Al Hasan, moreover, has been in form of his lif. It’s a great matter for us. He is now leading the national team successfully that’s also a big matter for us,” he added..

“If Shakib can turn up with his natural game, he himself can thwart any team and can lead the side to the victory single-handedly,” he remarked.
But he also stressed upon the importance of team effort, centering around Shakib.
Citing an example of Royal Challengers Bengalore in Indian Premier League (IPL), Dynamites manager said that the big names do not always fetch benefits because that is not important more than momentum in T20 cricket.
“The biggest thing is that it’s better not only for Bangladesh cricket but Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) also. In this format, the name is not a factor. If you look at Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bengaluru roped in big name players but they are yet to be champion in IPL,” he added.
“A team depends on the team combination how they will do in the tournament. Each team is stronger. There is no chance to take any team lightly. I think, every team has ability to clinch the title,” he continued.
This year title-aspirants Dynamites have a solid stock of foreign players that could engender fears in opponent ranks. They have bolstered their squad with globe-trotting Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell along with their compatriot Rovman Powell, who all will get assistance from Ian Bell (England), Andrew Birch (South Africa) and Hazratullah Zazai (Afghanistan). The bulk of them will land here in Dhaka shortly.
“We’ll embark on our campaign with the hopes of becoming BPL champions. The momentum in T20 format is very important because it alters quickly. If it’s lost, it’s really hard to bring back. So, the momentum is crucial to play each game,” he noted.
“Our team is very good and our foreign collection is also good. Overall, our combination has also been better, Mashaallah,” he also noted.
“Every match is important. The opponent in each game will be stronger. We’ve to try to make less number of mistakes in the match. The more we do lesser mistake the more it’ll be better for us,” he signed off.
