Sabbir is eyeing to make a statement in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League as he believes that will help him to return in the national fold.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board on September 1 handed Sabbir a six-month ban from international cricket for his repeated off-field issues.
Sabbir has been charged in the past for a number of issues like physically assaulting a fan during a National Cricket League match in Rajshahi, using abusive words while replying to a Facebook post of a fan and hitting team-mate Mehedi Hasan during the Afghanistan series.
The hard-hitting batsman was still serving a six-month ban from domestic cricket as a punishment and was also denied a national contract along with a fine of Tk 20 lakh when he was handed the six month suspension from international cricket.

Sabbir came in front of lime light for the first time since he was handed with the suspension as he joined the first practice session of Sylhet Sixers at the Academy premises on Tuesday.
‘’I promised to myself last night that 2018 had been dreadful year for me and I want to forget it and start afresh from this New Year. I have realized that my career is getting under threat for all those mistakes. There is nothing you can prove by saying so let me see how far I go regarding keeping my commitment to my own self,’’ said Sabbir.
‘’It was very difficult mentally. I played in the NCL and BCL while had to take my own preparation all alone, I was with my family. I have passed five months [of suspension] and still one month to go,’’ he said.
Sixers roped in Australian David Warner for the upcoming edition of BPL and also handed him the captaincy knowing his vast experience will help them go a long way in the tournament.
Sabbir said that he is excited to share the dressing room with Warner and urged if they can follow his instruction.
‘’Of course he[ Warner] is a big player and he got a lot of experience. His presence in the team is a big factor and if he shares his experience among us and we try to follow him hopefully and the rest of the guys support him we expect to have a good result,’’ said Sabbir.
‘’Last year we began well and we will try to do the same this year as well and then see what need to be done. Our team combination is very good as far as the top order and middle order is concerned. Who can play those 120 deliveries well will win,’’ he concluded.
