Bangladesh Test specialist Mominul Haque is eyeing to improve his batting potential in the upcoming year after completing a very successful 2018.Mominul scored 1791 runs in all first-class competitions, the record by a Bangladeshi in a calendar year.
The left-handed batsman played all eight Test matches for Bangladesh in 2018 but he could play just two one-day internationals in Asia Cup before being abandoned in limited-over cricket once again.
Mominul erased the frustration by hitting five centuries in domestic cricket to go with his four Test centuries in the year.
‘’To be honest it was a good year for me as I could perform quite close to my expectation,’’ Mominul told Cricfrenzy on Saturday.
‘’But still there is lot of areas for improvement and I am looking forward to put all my energy on it,’’ he said.
According to Mominul the tour of Windies was a huge disappointment as he just did not managed to perform but added that he will take the lesson that he learnt close to his heart

‘’I must admit that I just could not perform well in Windies and I am disappointed about it because at the end of the day how you perform abroad also do importance in every cricketers career,’’ said Mominul.
But at the same time there is no use thinking about it over and over rather I guess working on my weakness that was exposed in the tour would be more rewarding for me,’’ he said.
I am working on it and hopefully it will pay off in the coming days,’’ he said adding that he will try to show similar commitment in future matches.
‘I will try to start every match fresh and want to play really well,’ he said.
‘I want to enrich my performance and want to continue this form to provide better performance. I think I have lots of things to improve in my batting,’ he added.
Often been dubbed as a Test specialist, Mominul mustered a career best 182 against Ireland A and it not only showed his ability to play aggressive cricket but according to the diminutive left-hander it had helped him understand his game better.
"I think the Ireland series was a great learning curve for me and it will help me in my coming days," Mominul said.
"I had to learn how to play aggressive cricket in completely different conditions and it was entirely a new experience for me. It was satisfying in a sense that I had managed to play a lot of shots throughout the series. I had very limited shots at my disposal and probably that is the reason it had an impact on my career in the shorter formats," he added,
Mominul added that he is not losing sleep over getting selected in the shorter format as he believe that he is need to deliver on consistent manner that he failed to do so in the Asia Cup.
It was surely rewarding for me to get picked in the Asia Cup but somehow I could not manage to seize the opportunity but losing sleep over it probably won’t take me very far so it is better to wait for the next available opportunity,’’ said Mominul adding he does not find huge difference in Test and shorter formats.
"It is more or less like Test cricket, every day there is a new battle as you have to start from the scratch after the game is over."
