Tanzid Tamim’s fifty and Abu Haider Rony’s all-round brilliance ushered the Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team to thrash Northern Territory Cricket by 112 runs in their 50-over game at TIO Stadium on Thursday.
HP bowlers rattle down the Northern’s batting line-up to skittle out the host to 138-10 in 42 overs in pursuit of 250 target.
After being invited to bat first, the openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan Tamim put together a 100-run partnership for the opening wicket.
Tamim scored 53 in 64 balls which featured four boundaries and a solitary six and Emon fell short of just three runs to register a half-century, as he was dismissed on 47 off 64.
Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals as Akbar Ali 26, Shamim Hossain 20 and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby 17 played short innings in the middle.
However, Abu Haider’s crucial 38 runs facing 41 balls aided by three fours and a maximum helped Bangladesh reach a competitive total.
Hamish Martin bagged four wickets and had figures for 4-46 for Northern Territory.
Chasing the target, no batters could show resistance except the skipper Jacob Dickman scoring 51 off 87 including six boundaries.
Apart from the skipper, Jagadeswara Kodru 12, Hamish Martin 17, Tom Menzies 14 were the only batters to reach double figures.
Abu Haider, Rakibul Hasan, Mukidul Islam Mugdho and Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby claimed two wickets apiece and Afif Hossain got one.
