After Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium has also received one demerit point following the Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The match referee, who had rated Chittagong's pitch as below average, has treated the Mirpur stadium in the same manner while rating its pitch. The record of the demerit point will be maintained for five years and if the same venue reaches the threshold of five demerit points in these five years, the respective venue will be suspended from hosting any international matches for the next 12 months.

David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, said, “From day one, there was evidence of the ball breaking the pitch surface, which resulted in uneven bounce throughout the match, along with inconsistent turn, which was even excessive at times. This pitch produced a contest that was too heavily skewed in favor of the bowlers, and didn’t give the batsmen a fair chance to display their skills.”

After enjoying a run galore in the Chittagong Test which resulted in a draw, Bangladesh were handed a 215-run defeat in the series-deciding clash in Dhaka.
