For the first time in their history, India managed to win a bilateral series in South Africa. This was a feat they could never achieve under great captains like Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni. Virat Kohli’s team, however did it.

India achieved this feat after beating the Proteas in the 5th ODI to seal the series with a game in hand. India currently lead the series 4-1 and have another good news in place: they will now finish as the top ranked team in the ODI circuit even after the series concludes.

This is the third time in six months that the Men In Blue have climbed to the top of the ladder. They jumped over the South Africans to become the ranked 1 nation and had to win the series in order to retain their spot.

South Africa, meanwhile, had to at least draw the series to get back on top after losing the spot with the loss in the second ODI. They, however, failed and, as a result, have lost the spot of pinnacle to Virat Kohli’s men.
