Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews is going to miss the two match test series against Bangladesh at home which is scheduled to start from 7th March. On Saturday, Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has confirmed this. Mathews got a hamstring injury in the second T20I against South Africa in Johannesburg. After that he also missed the following Twenty20 International series in Australia. “Yes, I will be out of the Test series,” Mathews said on Saturday. “The rehabilitation process is taking longer than expected. “The injury is bit more serious than what we thought. There’s a tendon tear as well which is delaying the recovery,” he explained. According to the doctors, Mathews has to take rest at least three to four weeks to get a complete recovery. However, he may miss the ODI series against Bangladesh as well. Meanwhile, according to the selection sources, it is believed that Rangana Herath will captain the side.
