Five Reasons Behind The Recent Success of Bangladesh Cricket

Published Date: 03 May 2016 | Update : 03 May 2016
The Bangladesh cricket team’s recent performance in cricket has been the talk of the town when it comes to international cricket. After thrashing Pakistan 3-0 in a bilateral one-day series last year, Bangladesh continued their good run of form and dominated India and South Africa as well.     It has been a fantastic turnaround for the tigers when they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and England in the 2015 ODI World Cup and reached the quarter-final for the first time in the history of Bangladesh cricket. Though they lost to India in the quarter-final, but the tigers had managed to won many hearts around the world by playing fantastic cricket.     Let’s have a look at the five reasons why Bangladesh is a transformed cricket country more than before-   1. Splendid Leadership of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza- Mashrafe Mortaza took over the captaincy in November 2014. Under Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh had gone 13 games without a single win in 2014.   With less than three months to go for the ICC World Cup, Mortaza stepped in. In 20 games since Mortaza became full-time captain, Bangladesh has lost only five times. The skipper of Bangladesh Mashrafe Mortaza has led his team from the front most of the time.   It seems that Bangladesh has finally found a leader who understands what brings the success of Bangladesh in the international arena.     2. The arrival of quality young cricketers- The cricketers are playing their best cricket. All of them know their role in the team and can play more technically than the past in any situations. The batsmen are hungry for runs. The bowlers are hungry for wickets and giving away lesser runs to the oppositions. The fielders are giving their utmost effort in the field.   Bangladesh was depended on one or two players before. But, now they can depend on any player. Shakib Al Hasan is the world’s top-ranked all-rounder. Besides, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim is now in good form. Other players like Soumya Sarker, Mominul Haque,Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Nasir Hossain are also among runs.   The captain has many bowling options in his hand. Almost all of them can bowl handy overs for the team. Besides, the pipeline of players is very strong. Some good players are knocking at the door of the National team. So, the success is primarily due to the hard-working of the cricketers in the field.     3. Coaching Staffs: In June 2014, Chandika Hathurasingha was appointed as the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team. After taking the charge of Bangladesh cricket team he openly called for discipline from senior players as soon as he took over and made good tactical calls like promoting Mahmudullah up the order.   The bowling coach of Bangladesh Heath Streak also kept a great impact to bring Bangladesh team in a glorious position. He started his career as bowling coach of Bangladesh with a primary aim to reduce Bangladesh’s dependency on spin. When he joined, he had outlined his objective of identifying a group of 8-10 pacers who can deliver the goods consistently.     4. The Officials kept a great impact- Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been working for the betterment of cricket from the very beginning. The president of BCB Nazmul Hasan Papon is dedicated to cricket and takes positive steps for the betterment of cricket.   Moreover, the selectors have been doing an excellent job by finding new talents from the age-level cricket. They are dedicated finding the best players in the team.     5. Team Unity- Finally, it’s come about team unity. Team unity is one of the most important factors for achieving success. One can see how the Bangladesh players are all playing like a team. For a long time, Bangladesh cricket has been fighting with disunity among players and behind the back intrigues that impacted their on-field performance. Bangladesh team is playing as a unit and each of the senior players and coach Hathuresinghe deserves a lot more of credit for this.
