Backup players of National team to be selected for ‘A’ team

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) selector and former captain, Habibul Bashar has recently said that they don’t want to select too many players for ‘A’ team due to the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL).

While talking to the media, He said, “NCL is going on and this is very important. Maybe we won’t select too many players for ‘A’ team. Only the players who will be needed are going to be selected. As a result, domestic season won’t be affected.”

Habibul Basahr added, “Mainly the team will be formed with the backup players of the national team.”

On the other hand, BCB Vice President Mahbub Anam has said that Bangladesh national team’s series against South Africa won’t create any problem for the domestic cricket. He has also said that there main priority is national team.

He said, “That is our expectation that Cricket will take its own course. National team will remain in prime status. The other structural tournaments will go as it suppose to. This will make space for numbers of players and also will contribute to build a strong national team.”

He concluded, “Our main goal is to have an outstanding national team and we also want the competitions to be continued. We want to see two to three qualified players for each position. If we become successful to do so then we will not have to look behind.”
