Bowling coach of the Tigers and legendary Windies fast bowler, Courtney Walsh wants to see more hard-work from the Bangladeshi bowlers on their consistency in line and length as without that, they won’t be successful in the upcoming two-test series against South Africa.
While talking to the media at Benoni on Friday, Walsh said that bowlers had to focus on their line and length rather than speed as he said, “We have to go back to the basic and show consistency because that will be the key.”
He added, “If you are consistent to bowl in the right areas, that’s the way you can answer. As a team, the guys are hopeful to play some good cricket so if we can do what we are hoping, they have to support with consistency and good control, that’s all we want.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket team are playing a practice match against South Africa Invitational XI which will help them to get prepared for the Test series which will be started with the first match in Potchefstroom on 28th September.
Walsh is so far happy with the bowlers’ performance in this practice match. Former Windies fast bowler thinks the bowlers are ready for the first match.
He said, “It’s OK. I mean its first game out. This is the last game before the first Test match. They are all going right and we want to get them in shape to see who is ready and who is not to make our game plans for the first Test.”
Courtney Walsh concluded, “It’s good to get the game a bit of bowling and batting and we’ll also have practice sessions, so far so good and all we just want a little bit of consistency and that’s the work in progress so it’s OK.”
