A tough challenge is waiting for Bangladesh Cricket team as they will tour South Africa in this month to play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 2 T-20Is against the Proteas.
The series will be started with first Test on 28th September in Potchefstroom and the selectors of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have already announced the squad for this Test series.
Rubel Hossain who was not in the side for the home test series against Australia has been selected. He was in the squad for the away Test series against Sri Lanka but couldn’t get a chance to play.
The right-arm fast bowler has not been able to show a consistent performance so far in the Test arena and this is the main reason behind this in and out.
While talking to Kaler Kontho on Monday the bowler himself said that his performance had not been extra ordinary in the longer format. He has also said that he wants to use the pace-friendly condition in South Africa and show a brilliant performance.
Rubel Hossain said, “I am happy to be selected. The pitches in South Africa will be helpful for the pacers. Pacers will get more bounce and swing from the wickets. Surely, we’ll try to make the best use of the condition.”
He added, “Every player wants to play regularly and I am also one of them. I want to perform for my country. In the limited-over cricket, I have been regular so far but things are not same in the Test arena. If I get the chance, then I’ll try hard to show great performance.”
The right-arm fast bowler also said, “I have played 24 Test matches so far but the number of my wickets is very low. It is not a good thing for the bowler and I feel very bad for that. However, I worked hard in the past to take more wickets but I was not successful.”
However, Bangladesh will face huge challenge in this series as the wickets in South Africa are unfamiliar to them. Moreover, the star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan won’t be available for the Test series as he has been granted three-month break from the Test arena.
While talking to Kaler Kontho, Rubel Hossain also talked about this issue. He thinks Shakib Al Hasan is irreplaceable and the Test team will definitely miss him.
Rubel concluded, “Shakib Al Hasan is hugely important for our team and everyone knows that. The team will definitely miss him as he is an irreplaceable player.”
