‘Franchise Cricket is like Holiday Cricket, I’ll retire with Test Cricket’

Everyone of the cricketing world became shocked after hearing Shakib’s desire to have a break from the Test arena for 6 months but he wanted that to prolong his Test career.

Shakib Al Hasan is the busiest cricketer of Bangladesh and the whole country relies on him the most. He has been a regular member in the franchise based cricket around the world and his ability to put massive impact in the game is the main reason for that.

The no.1 all-rounder has to deal with a huge pressure in regular basis and in all the matches of Bangladesh, people look for his magnificent show. As a result, the player himself has become bit tired and thus he wanted to have a little break from the longer format.

Bangladesh Cricket team will play a two-match Test series in South Africa which will be started from 28th September in Potchefstroom and Shakib won’t be there as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already granted three-month break for Shakib.

He can join the team in the 2nd Test if he wants but that will not probably happen. However, the majestic all-rounder will restart his Test career in Bangladesh’s next home Test series against Sri Lanka. While talking to the Jamuna TV on Tuesday, Shakib opened up about his decision.

After hearing his decision, people from all over the Bangladesh became shocked and most of them started to give advice of leaving franchise cricket.

Shakib has an answer to all of them as he said, “Franchise cricket is like holiday cricket. Playing for the country is the real challenge and my work is to give my hundred percent there.”

He added, “I want to play for longer period and that’s why the rest was necessary. Taking a break from limited-over’s cricket won’t give you the opportunity to freshen up your mind and body properly. So, I decided to take a break from the Test arena.”

Shakib Al Hasan concluded, “I want to retire from International cricket with Test. I believe that we’ll do well in South Africa.”
