‘If we can use our condition perfectly, then we’ll win against Australia’

Bangladesh Cricket team is an established ODI side in the international arena and slowly they have started to show their worth in the test format too.

In the last season, after beating England in Mirpur, they also won a test match against Sri Lanka on their home soil and those performances are encouraging Mushfiq Rahim who has been leading the Test side for six years, to feel confident ahead of the two matches’ test series against Australia which will be started from 28th August.

While talking to the media on Monday in Mirpur, Bangladesh Test captain showed his excitement for the upcoming series and he thinks that Bangladesh have the ability to beat Australia.

Mushfiq said, “It will be my first Test match against Australia and the situation is same for most of us. It is a great feeling. Australia are known to play aggressive cricket and we’ll also try to play with an aggressive mindset against them.”

He added, “In the last 2-3 years some exciting players have come into our side and so we can now dream to win against any Test side. If we can make the best use of our home condition, then I think we’ll be able to beat Australia. We have been working hard for that.

However, having wicket-taking bowlers in the side is important to win a Test match but Bangladesh have some lacking in that. Mushfiqur Rahim also knows this fact as he said, “You have to take 20 wickets to win a Test match. In this sector, we have some lacking. We don’t have a good leg-spinner and moreover, we don’t have a genuine fast bowler.”

Wicket-keeper batsman added, “We got some good bowlers in last 2 years. If they can survive for some years, we’ll be a better Test side.”

Meanwhile, Bangladeshi spinners really troubled the mighty England side in last year and Test captain thinks they will be able to do same against the Kangaroos.

Mushfiqur Rahim said, “We have two world-class bowler like Shakib and Taijul. Now, Miraj is here too. These three have the ability to take 20 wickets against any side in the world and they’ll get familiar pitches too. We have already proved our ability on our home soil by beating England. Hopefully, history will be repeated.”

However, the series is still not confirmed due the ongoing pay dispute between Cricket Australia (CA) and Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA). But the situation is better now and a strong Australia team will probably come in the scheduled time.
