Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been trying from long since to bring South African legend Jonty Rhodes to improve the players’ performance in the field.
However, because of his busy schedule, Rhodes is currently unavailable and can’t come to Bangladesh for a long period of time. It has been informed by BCB director and Cricket Operations Committee chairman Akram Khan on Sunday.
‘Jonty is currently very busy. He can not work for a long time. Our talks with him are going on. If he agrees to work with us, he will then come here for a short period. He will work and share his experience with our national players besides high performance and our others teams also,’ said Akram Khan.
Akram also informed that BCB talked with Rhodes before ICC Champions Trophy, but it is very hard to get him for long-time.
‘Before the conclusion of ICC Champions Trophy, we talked with him. Actually, it’s difficult to get big names’ players for the longer period. He will work for two-three weeks if he agrees. He will come here when he gets time,’ Akram added.
The former Bangladesh skipper also mentioned that there is a less chance to appoint Jonty before Australia series. He said, ‘There is less possibility of getting him ahead of the upcoming home series against Australia. He has not confirmed us yet.’
