Ahead of the 3 matches ODI series against Sri Lanka starting on 25th March, Bangladesh team are currently playing a warm-up match against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI in Colombo Cricket Ground.
Captain, Mashrafe won the toss for Bangladesh and he has elected to bowl first in this practice match. Sri Lanka had a bright start after coming to bat.
Both the openers were playing brilliantly before Taskin’s strike. Taskin Ahmed took the wicket of Munaweera while he was on 24. But, that breakthrough couldn’t stop the run flow of Lankans.
Perera and Weerakkody started to play more aggressively and Bangladesh with out their star bowlers were confused with their bowling. They added 114 runs in the 2nd wicket stand and literally troubled Bangladeshi bowlers.
After that, Weerakkody got out on 67 runs and then captain, Siriwardana came to bat. Kushal Perera was batting with the captain and he then took himself off the field after scoring 64 runs.
Runs were being scored in a quick rate even after that. Siriwardana, Dhananjaya, Chaturanga and Thisara Perera all concentrated on scoring in a quick rate and they got the success.
At the end, Sri Lanka managed to score 354 runs after 50 overs which is obviously a huge target for the Tigers.
Bangladesh had a terrible start at the beginning as Imrul Kayes got out in the very first ball of the innings. But, then Sabbir Rahman and Soumya Sarkar started to play aggressively and they were majestic throughout their knocks.
Sabbir Rahman played shots all around the ground and Soumya supported him brilliantly. But, both the batsmen couldn’t convert their innings into bigger knocks.
Sabbir got out after scoring 72 and Soumya after 47. Mushfiq too were not successful to play big knock as he was dismissed after scoring a blistering 20.
Mahmudullah and Mosaddek then started to play sensibly and they played shots all around the ground. They had a huge task to do ahead of that big target.
Masharafe Bin Mortaza who was out of all sorts of cricket for more than 2 months is back with full fitness and this match will be a great test of his fitness.
Meanwhile, prolific all-rounder of Sri Lanka, Thisara Perera is back into the ODI side and he is playing this match. On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Subashis Roy and Mustafizur Rahman are not playing this match.
