Bangladesh are lock horns in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand. The series will begin with the first ODI at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Monday.
In this series both sides have lots of things to prove. In their last two series against India and Australia, the performance of Kiwis were not satisfactory. They lost 5 match ODI series with 2-3 against the Indians. After that they were whitewashed by Australia in the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy.
So Bangladesh series would be an ideal platform for the Kiwis to come back. In this series New Zealand’s front line seamers Trent Boult and Tim Southee will be not available for some matches.
According to the coach Mike Hesson it has been known that Boult will not play the final one-day match in Nelson on Dec. 31 and miss at least the first Twenty20 match in Napier on Jan. 3. On the other hand, Southee will miss the entire Twenty20 series.
However, New Zealand have enough back up in the form of Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, Colin de Grandhomme and Jimmy Neesham. Meanwhile, former skipper of the Black Caps Ross Taylor will be missing out the entire series due to eye surgery. It will bring extra responsibility for the middle order batsmen.
On the other hand, Bangladesh played their last international series outside home before 20 months. In 2015 they participated in ICC World Cup which was held at Australia and New Zealand. After a long time they are going to play a complete series against the Kiwis.
