Rajshahi Kings has secured an emphatic victory over Chittagong Vikings. They’ve won by 6 wickets with 37 balls to spare.
Rajshahi struck on the very first ball when Kesrick Williams dismissed the consistent performer for Chittagong Vikings, their captain Tamim Iqbal. Chittagong never truly recovered after that.
The 17-year-old debutante, Afif Hossain led the destruction by picking up the next 4 wickets for Rajshahi Kings. Chittagong Vikings lost half of their batting line-up scoring just 37 runs.
Then, Mohammad Nabi and Shoaib Malik tried to build some sort of a partnership and put up 32 runs together. But that didn’t get any further because Nabi was dismissed by Nazmul Islam on 12.
The only reason Chittagong got to 111 was the unbeaten 67 by Shoaib Malik. Afif Hossain took 5 wickets in his first BPL match giving away just 21 runs.
This meager total was nowhere near enough to win against Rajshahi Kings. The openers gave Rajshahi Kings a decent start. But it was when James Franklin came to bat in the 8th over that the game really got away from Chittagong.
Franklin scored 63 from just 27 balls and led his team to victory within 14 overs. Saqlain Sajib and Imran Khan Jr. both took 2 wickets for Chittagong Vikings.
Chittagong Vikings and Rajshahi Vikings have finished playing their group stage matches and both have 12 points. But Chittagong Vikings are on the 2nd spot while Rajshahi Kings have finished on the 3rd spot due to the difference in their net run rates.
