‘Afghanistan is Taking Bangladesh as a Role Model’

Afghanistan is one of the brightest associate cricket playing nations. They’ve won against many Test playing sides and they’ve done it in the world stage as well.

The right-handed leg spinner Rashid Khan is one of the most talented cricketers that Afghanistan has produced. He has grabbed the limelight in his short career due to his excellent performance.

He is playing for Comilla Victorians in this BPL. He has taken four wickets playing six matches. However, his team is already out of the competition having lost all of their games except one.

He recently talked about cricket’s progress in his country. The youngster said that they are following Bangladesh as a role model to improve.

The leg spinner said, “During last several years, Bangladesh has gained considerable success in world cricket. Their improvement in cricket is an example for many countries now. Afghanistan is taking Bangladesh as a role model. We want to follow them to make improvement in our cricket.”

The Comilla Victorians bowler also spoke about the similarities people find between his and Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi’s leg break googly.

The spinster said, “Many say that I bowl like Afridi. I enjoy his bowling but actually I do not follow him. I really like Shahid Afridi, Anil Kumble and Shane Warne. And I have also worked much upon my googly.”

Afghanistan gained the membership of International Cricket Council (ICC) back in 2001. Then, in 2013, Afghanistan became an Associate Member of ICC.
