Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood is all set to become the national team’s new bowling consultant for five ODIs and one T20 against England and two ODIs against Ireland.
According to local media reports, Mahmood has made an agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) upcoming ODIs and T20 matches against England and Ireland. He will be taking charge during the fourth Test, which starts on August 12.
Reportedly, after the fourth Test against England, the present coach Mushtaq Ahmad will return to Pakistan on August 16 to join the National Cricket Academy.
Mahmood has a playing contract with English county Surrey that ends in July. It is understood that the split in duties for Pakistan’s England tour with Mushtaq was conceived to allow Mahmood to complete his Surrey contract and then join the team; he has been offered a one-year contract with Pakistan following that, ESPNcricinfo reported.
The national side will go on to play five ODIs and a one-off T20 fixture in the tour which continues till early September.
