The Future of Bangladesh Cricket

The Future of Bangladesh Cricket

Tigers’ has been playing well after the World Cup 2015 in both ODI and T20 formats and eager to continue their winning streak by all means.

Tiger’s is now a new emerging cricket playing nation in the world and their ODI and T2oI rankings are increasing day by day.

They have been playing ODI and T20I cricket with the various opponent team at the international level since the ODI World Cup 2015.

But now we don’t have any international cricket match against any opponent team which may hamper our player’s form. However, Tigers will lock horns against England in September-October which is definitely good for Bangladesh Cricket by all means.

The inconsistency of playing International cricket may affect our Winning streak badly. If we look back in the 2010 and 2012 year, you will find out the answer quite easily.

Tigers’ played against the Kiwis in October’s 2010 and won the bilateral ODI series by 4-0 on their home soil. So the Bangladeshi cricket fans thought that they will definitely do well in the ODI World Cup 2011 using the home conditions. But Tigers’ showed awful performance in that World Cup and failed to cross the group stage in the 50 over tournament.

they were bundled out for just 58 just against West Indies and skittered out again for only 74 runs over South Africa in the group stage match.

Bangladesh didn’t participate in any international match after the Kiwis tour to Bangladesh before the 2011 World Cup. There was no domestic cricket at that time but they did some conditional camps at that period of time. It didn’t bore fruit for them at all.

So if you want to play good cricket in the International arena, you have to play cricket at a regular basis, there is no question at all.

Now let’s go to the year 2012, Bangladesh Premier League kicked off for the first time in Bangladesh and local players have the opportunity to  play for different franchise teams. After that Tigers’ played Asia Cup 2012 at Dhaka and played awesome cricket to beat mighty India and Srilanka to seal the final against Pakistan. But unfortunately, they lost the grand final match against Pakistan for just 2 runs.

However, they played many international matches in that year which includes West Indies, South Africa, Ireland, Netherlands and later participated in the World Cup T20.

But in this year, the Tigers’ had a busy schedule before the World T20 at India and now the Tigers’ didn’t have any international schedules. The local players are now busy with Dhaka Premier League. Bangladesh will visit India for lonesome test and ODI series but it’s not fixed yet. Then they are scheduled to play against England and New Zealand at the end of this year.

BCB should look forward to arranging bilateral series in the international arena against any team and they can arrange conditional camp for the players. Tigers’ have been playing in the home conditions but failed to perform well in different conditions.

On the other hand, Tigers are lagging far behind in Test cricket. Tigers’ last played test matches against South Africa back in 2015. But since then they are out of playing test matches and Tigers’ test future is still in dark as we were unable to develop in this format of game. So if we want to do better in this format of game, we will have to play as many games as possible against the mighty opponents in the International arena.
