Bangladesh sweat over Tamim fitness
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal received an injury blow on Thursday as he aggravated his groin injury during the practice session on ahead of the third Test against New Zealand.
Bangladesh team management is all set to pass another sleepless night as they are not yet confirmed about his availability for the series concluding the last Test, scheduled on March 12.
According to eyewitnesses, Tamim left the practice session at Christchurch at midway with a lot of discomforts as the groin injury resurfaced.
“We can only take a decision regarding him [Tamim] after assessing his condition tomorrow. We are just hoping that he can recover on time as there is still some time left before the second Test,’’ Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operation chairman Akram Khan told reporters on Thursday.
“He was feeling pain in the groin while taking part in the fielding drill at the practice session and decided not to take part any further in the training session,’’ he said.
The severity of the injury could it was learnt through sources close to the team management that they unwilling to take any risk with Tamim if there is any possibility that his participation in the last Test possess the risk of aggravating it further as they are more concerned about his availability in the upcoming edition of World Cup.
