Mashrafe returns to Abahani in DPL
Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza returns back to competitive cricket with the ongoing Dhaka Premier League’s as he is all set to feature for Abahani Limited against Brothers Union at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
Mashrafe took a vacation after completing his stint with the Bangladesh team in the three-match series against New Zealand as he opted to take the opportunity to take his family members along with him on a trip outside Bangladesh.
Mashrafe joined the Abahani training session at the academy premises on Wednesday to make sure he is totally prepared for the tournament that according to him is the breeding ground of Bangladesh’s cricket.
Abahani head coach Khaled Mahmud said Mashrafee would be raring to go in DPL and believe that the inspirational skipper would be a big factor as far as Abahani clinching the championship is concerned.
Even though he was not the regular captain of Abahani in the last season, he actually was involved as manager cum coach in the team and took all important decision with Mahmud.
“I think there is definitely a competitive cricket in the Premier League. Mashrafe is always a competitive guy so it is definitely important for him,” Mahmud said on Sunday.
“Mashrafe plays sincerely while he takes part in the game and he is a big factor of Abahani. He is a great boy who leads from the front. It is important for both Mashrafe and Abahani,” Mahmud concluded.
